Approach
I conduct Jungian Analysis with adult individuals via zoom or in person.
A weekly session is necessary, especially at the beginning. Psyche is there waiting to meet us. We are creating a relationship with each other, and with psyche. It is a commitment. It takes time to build trust and the contents of the unconscious do not rise up quickly. Soul work is slow work, which requires patience. The weekly session is the rhythm of the relationship. If we meet every other week the rhythm is broken. We make a fire, and we must tend to that fire. When there is no consistency and rhythm, when there is no commitment to tend to the fire, the hearth grows cold. Then we will have to take time to build the fire again.
I liken it to Mary Oliver’s thoughts on writing poetry. She said, It is a kind of possible love affair between something like the heart and the learned skill of the conscious mind. They make appointments with each other and keep them and something begins to happen or they make appointments with each other, but are casual and often failed to keep them - count on it. Nothing happens” (Mary Oliver 1994).
Bring a dream if possible at every session. Write it all down before hand.
We will look at the images and symbols and follow the path that leads to healing. Sometimes the session begins by telling the dream, other times what is urgent or wants to be listened to at the moment is told first. There is no set formula. Jung said he does not have a method, or technique. We circumambulate and explore a dream or what needs to be listened to.
